Sr. Phlebotomist - Dover, DE

Location: In-person position in Dover, Delaware, United States; not remote

What you will do

• Verify test requisitions and patient identities before collection.
• Obtain blood specimens through venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Prepare, track, and preserve specimens using aseptic techniques and department procedures.
• Maintain quality-control records, testing schedules, collection tallies, and patient reports.
• Resolve unusual test orders by coordinating with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, and reference laboratories.
• Answer and triage billing questions, follow up with patients, and schedule FedEx or Medspeed courier pickups.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate if required by the state.
• Ability to follow hospital, federal, state, local, and JCAHO standards.
• Ability to work in an office setting while wearing scrubs and tracking each draw.
• HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training must be completed within the first 30 days of hire.
