Client Office Phlebotomist-Full-time Days SV

Location: Onsite at a client site in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wednesday: 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Travel to additional sites may be required.

Salary: $19.45–$25.29 per hour

What you will do

• Perform blood draws and other laboratory specimen collections for infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care, identify medical assistance needs, and follow patient-safety procedures.
• Label, process, transfer, and track specimens, requisitions, orders, test results, and outstanding draws.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures and quality-control records, document corrective actions, and report issues.
• Request physician orders, enter laboratory tests into computer systems, and perform related clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, client office staff, laboratory personnel, physicians, and coworkers while completing tasks independently and efficiently.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution.
• One or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work the specified weekday daytime schedule at the Fort Wayne client site.
• Ability to follow specimen-handling, patient-identification, handwashing, safety, and regulatory procedures.
• Background check required for newly hired team members.

Nice to have

• Experience with a broad range of patient types and laboratory specimen processing.
• Experience transferring specimens and operating a centrifuge.
• Familiarity with medical EMR systems and medical terminology.
• Bilingual skills.
