Field Service Technician (Plastics)

Location: Plainwell, Michigan, United States. Workplace: On-site. Domestic travel is required for 30% of the role, with no weekend travel.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize plastic resin handling equipment at customer facilities.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, control system, PLC, HMI, sensor, and communications issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections, analyze equipment performance, and implement corrective actions.
• Document service activities and prepare detailed service reports.
• Support customers by phone, email, and remote diagnostics when appropriate.
• Train customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance while following safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or technical certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• At least 3 years of experience working with similar equipment.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic issues.
• Strong listening, verbal, written communication, and customer relationship-building skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
