Controls Engineer (PLC)

Location: Homer, Michigan, USA; travel may be required for projects.

What you will do

• Commission, download, test, and debug control systems for packaging equipment.
• Develop PLC, HMI, and motion control programs for assigned projects.
• Create and validate design packages, including bills of materials, schematics, drawings, layouts, and control panel documentation.
• Provide technical support to service teams and customers in the field.
• Research controls products and recommend suitable technologies.
• Coordinate with mechanical design and manufacturing personnel, and provide technical training to colleagues.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in controls engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation RSLogix 500 and 5000 software.
• Experience designing electrical schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or a similar platform.
• Working knowledge of pneumatics, I/O devices, AC/DC drives, servos, operator interfaces, motion control, and network communications.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
• A four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field is desired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
