Mechanical and Design Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Charleston, West Virginia, United States of America. The role includes remote work, field investigations, site visits, construction support, and travel of up to 50%.

Salary: $93,530–$137,181 annually, plus discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Perform mechanical engineering analysis, calculations, sketches, and designs for capital projects, plant support activities, and construction installations.
• Develop and review mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment layouts, installation details, calculations, and other technical documentation.
• Prepare equipment specifications for material handling systems, packaging equipment, pumps, piping, tanks, and related process equipment.
• Lead or support mechanical design packages from conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Provide technical direction to designers, drafters, engineers, project managers, contractors, and plant personnel.
• Conduct field investigations, troubleshoot mechanical systems, resolve engineering issues, and ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in specialty chemicals and at least 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience developing equipment specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience working from 3D models.
• Working knowledge of ANSI, OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API, and other applicable industry codes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and technical presentation skills, with willingness to travel up to 50%.
