TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer 3 (NSSS System Design) (Nuclear Power/NSSS): Developing and evaluating nuclear steam supply system components and fluid systems with an accent on system requirements, inspection and testing, nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Focus on preparing engineering specifications and evaluations, resolving complex multidisciplinary design issues, and supporting licensing scope for NuScale power plant systems.
Location: United States; remote work is available within the contiguous United States. Onsite presence four days per week is required for employees living within 30 miles of a current NuScale office location; business travel is required as needed.
Target annual pay: $108,908–$131,441. Full annual pay range: $97,642–$152,722.

What you will do
- Develop technical requirements for NSSS systems, structures, and components.
- Evaluate nuclear plant systems and define design, performance, inspection, and testing requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, reports, calculations, and testing documentation.
- Perform and check engineering evaluations using company procedures and sound engineering judgment.
- Collaborate with project engineers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate designs and resolve complex technical issues.
- Support the development of system design specifications and licensing scope.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university; Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
- At least five years of relevant full-time professional experience.
- Experience with ISI, NSSS system or component design, inspection, and testing is required or highly desired.
- Working knowledge of NSSS nuclear power plant designs, ASME Codes and Standards, 10 CFR 50, and nuclear industry regulations.
- Experience with nuclear utilities or plant operations and resolving complex multidisciplinary design issues.
- Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Nice to have
- Engineer in Training certification or a Mechanical Professional Engineer license.
