Staff Accountant (AI)

Location: New York, United States (hybrid); expected to work from the NYC office 1–2 days per month. Occasional travel may be required for team or company events and meetings.

Target base salary: $66,500–$83,085 per year, plus a total rewards package.

What you will do

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and recurring accounting entries with complete documentation.
• Own assigned bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve or escalate open items.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and maintain general ledger schedules for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll, and other accounting areas.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses and explain material or unusual activity.
• Partner with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A, Procurement, and business teams to improve financial data quality.
• Improve accounting workflows through systems, automation, and AI while validating outputs and protecting confidential information; contribute to finance system enhancements and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth environment.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and standard accounting principles.
• Familiarity with enterprise ERP systems; NetSuite experience is a plus, along with advanced spreadsheet proficiency.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and experience applying AI tools to improve work speed and quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Active pursuit of CPA licensure.
• Experience in the healthcare or technology sector.
