Staff Accountant (Biotech)

Location: Hybrid in Stamford, Connecticut, United States; minimum of two on-site days per week, currently Tuesday and Wednesday.

Salary: $77,000–$100,000 USD per year, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive award.

What you will do

• Support the monthly financial close by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and close workpapers.
• Process accounts payable, including invoice review and coding, approval workflows, vendor records, and payment processing.
• Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts.
• Support clinical and research program accruals by tracking expenditures and recording CRO and research-related costs.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.
• Improve accounting workflows, documentation standards, and close and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Three years of accounting experience in a corporate, public accounting, or life sciences environment.
• Foundational knowledge of US GAAP, accrual accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, schedules, and workpapers.
• Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems such as NetSuite or QuickBooks.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, accountability, and ability to meet close deadlines.

Nice to have

• CPA exam eligibility or progress toward CPA licensure.
• Life sciences or biotech experience.
