Senior Associate Scientist, In Vitro Biology and Mechanism of Action (mRNA)

What you will do

• Design and execute pre-clinical experiments to elucidate the mechanism of action of RNA vaccines and therapeutics.
• Perform RNA and LNP cell transfections and evaluate efficacy and protein expression using immunofluorescence, live imaging, and reporter assays.
• Apply RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, western blot, ELISA, and related laboratory techniques to generate high-quality data.
• Maintain immortalized and primary cell cultures for protein expression and NGS analysis.
• Organize, analyze, and interpret results; prepare technical reports and scientific presentations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report project progress at internal meetings and scientific forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant industry, academic, or research experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least 1 year with a Master’s degree.
• Hands-on experience with cell culture.
• Experience with imaging techniques and microscopy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional research environment while maintaining quality and project timelines.
• Must work onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with nucleic acid modalities such as mRNA, siRNA, miRNA, or gene editing.
• Familiarity with gene expression analysis, protein detection methods, and flow cytometry.
• Previous experience in a biopharma or biotech company.
• Excellent written and oral communication, strong organization, curiosity, and attention to detail.
