Mechanical Sourcing Co-op (Manufacturing)

Location: Boston, MA office; full-time onsite at least 4 days per week. Work period: January 2027–June 2027. Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer now and in the future; visa sponsorship is not available. No relocation or housing assistance is provided.

What you will do

• Analyze material usage across resin, paint, rubber, and metals and create a database to manage the data.
• Develop raw-material part-numbering schemes, formal BOM structures, sourcing tools, metrics, and dashboards.
• Build tools to support risk mitigation for RoHS, conflict minerals, PFAS, and related materials-compliance topics.
• Support Finance and business-unit stakeholders in creating an asset-management process and database for MTS parts.
• Build and maintain an asset library covering the condition, shot counts, asset numbers, and locations of tools, fixtures, jigs, and automation equipment.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in business intelligence, data science, supply chain, engineering, or a related field; junior or senior standing is preferred.
• Experience collecting, normalizing, and manipulating datasets using Excel, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Working familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT for research, data processing, or analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with technical or manufacturing data.
• Strong organizational and self-direction skills, with the ability to manage multiple tracking systems and deliverables.
• Ability to work from the Boston office at least 4 days per week and participate in the full-time January–June 2027 co-op.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, Tableau, or similar data warehousing and business-intelligence tools.
• Coursework or interest in plastics, manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, or procurement.
• Familiarity with PLM or PDM systems such as Arena, or with ERP and BOM structures.
• Exposure to sustainability, materials compliance, forecasting, reporting, databases, or tracking systems.
