Head of Sustainability

Location: New York City, New York (Office); occasional travel under 10% may be required for board and annual general meetings.

Salary: $350,000–$380,000 annually, plus potential annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the global sustainability strategy and three-year planning cycle, including the company’s 2030 sustainability priorities.
• Lead sustainability governance and provide reporting and strategic advice to the Board, Executive Committee, and business leaders.
• Align climate commitments, responsible investment priorities, and sustainability policies with global strategy and regulatory expectations.
• Oversee sustainability reporting, disclosures, double materiality assessments, assurance, and compliance with U.S. and European requirements.
• Direct measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, including Scope 1, Scope 2, operational Scope 3, and applicable financed emissions.
• Build engagement with investors, regulators, suppliers, clients, nongovernmental organizations, and other stakeholders while coordinating cross-functional execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public policy, finance, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in sustainability, corporate strategy, corporate affairs, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in financial services, insurance, asset management, or another regulated industry.
• Experience leading cross-border sustainability programs in a global organization and adapting EU-centric requirements to a U.S. business and regulatory context.
• Strong understanding of sustainability regulation and standards, plus a relevant sustainability, climate, responsible investment, or reporting certification.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant business, policy, environmental, finance, or sustainability discipline.
• Experience with sustainability benchmarks, rating agencies, and submissions including MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, S&P Global, and Carbon Disclosure Project.
• Experience managing sustainability memberships and signatory commitments such as the United Nations Global Compact, Principles for Sustainable Insurance, Principles for Responsible Investment, and Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance.
