Patient Access Associate Specialist - Full Time

Location: Onsite at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform patient admission, pre-registration, and account setup activities for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms, obtain signatures, and distribute required education materials.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and document applicable notices for Medicare patients.
• Operate the telephone switchboard, conduct account audits, and maintain accurate and timely records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-based process improvement.
• Ability to work onsite at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification required within nine months of hire.
