Patient Access Specialist - Full Time Evenings

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL, United States. Onsite role with rotating weekdays, alternating weekends, and hours from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Salary: $18.40–$27.60 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide patient access support, answer questions, resolve service issues, and escalate complex concerns.
• Collect and verify patient demographics, registration information, orders, referrals, and authorization details.
• Schedule appointments, perform medical necessity checks, communicate appointment requirements, and support patient flow through hospital systems.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, explain financial account issues, and complete out-of-pocket estimates.
• Document accurate handoffs, messages, and telephone encounters in Epic and other online systems.
• Participate in quality assurance, process improvement, cross-training, and staff support activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute and use computer data-entry tools and basic computer applications.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management, analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work rotating weekdays, alternating weekends, and the scheduled evening shift onsite in Chicago.

Nice to have

• Additional education or language skills.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
• Experience in healthcare, patient scheduling, or patient registration.
