Patient Access Specialist (Full-Time, 2nd Shift)

Location: Palos Heights, Illinois, United States; onsite evening shift

Salary: $18.40–$27.60 per hour

What you will do

• Provide patient access support, answer questions, and deliver professional customer service.
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, authorization, and financial information.
• Schedule appointments, direct patients through hospital systems, and communicate referral and consultation requirements.
• Perform medical necessity checks, insurance eligibility verification, out-of-pocket estimates, and real-time eligibility checks.
• Document accurate handoffs, messages, and telephone encounters in Epic.
• Participate in quality assurance, staff cross-training, service recovery, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute and use computer applications for data entry.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, multitasking, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work onsite during the evening shift and comply with HIPAA, regulatory, and background-check requirements.

Nice to have

• Additional education or language skills.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
• Healthcare experience with patient scheduling or registration.
