Location: Lake Forest, Illinois, United States; onsite evening shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
Salary: $18.40–$27.60 per hour

What you will do
- Register patients by collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, referral, and authorization information.
- Schedule and direct patients through hospital systems while coordinating with departments, physicians' offices, and scheduling staff.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, perform medical necessity checks, and explain financial account or appointment issues.
- Use Epic and other online systems to retrieve orders, document encounters, send messages, and maintain accurate handoff notes.
- Respond to patient questions, resolve service issues, protect confidentiality under HIPAA, and escalate complex concerns.
- Participate in quality assurance, process improvement, cross-training, and staff support activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute and use computer data-entry applications.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, organizational, analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-service orientation and ability to work effectively across hospital departments.
Nice to have
- Additional education or language skills.
- Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
- Experience with patient scheduling, registration, or other healthcare operations.
