Senior Data Analyst - Content Protection and Discoverability

What you will do

• Analyse how academic content is discovered and used across search engines, scholarly services, library platforms, aggregators, citation networks and AI-powered tools.
• Develop metrics, signals, KPIs, dashboards and reporting for content discoverability, traffic, engagement and commercial outcomes.
• Analyse BigQuery traffic, WAF and behavioural data to identify scraping, bot activity and unauthorised content extraction.
• Build and evolve detection signals, measure coverage, precision and false-positive rates, and investigate anomalous traffic patterns.
• Quantify the impact of content scraping and leakage to support decisions on content exposure, rate limiting, entitlements and platform protection.
• Translate analytical findings into recommendations for product, platform, analytics, security and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong SQL skills, particularly BigQuery, and experience working with large-scale datasets.
• Strong analytical and statistical capability, including pattern, anomaly and behavioural trend analysis.
• Experience analysing web traffic, referral data and user journeys across digital products.
• Understanding of content discoverability, search and referral ecosystems, or the ability to develop expertise quickly.
• Interest in bot detection, behavioural analytics, fingerprinting, content protection, data security and governance.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to turn data insights into actionable recommendations.

Nice to have

• Python or other scripting experience for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with Looker, Grafana or similar dashboarding and visualisation platforms.
• Exposure to security analytics, threat intelligence, fraud detection, access management or entitlement systems.
• Knowledge of SEO, scholarly discovery services, content metadata or digital content distribution.
• Experience with academic publishing, machine learning models, anomaly detection, segmentation, Dataform or dbt.
