Data Analyst, Exploration (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, United States

Annual base salary: $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze and profile new datasets, identify collection and storage requirements, and surface insights for data strategists and front-office stakeholders.
• Measure data quality across completeness, validity, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
• Curate data catalog entries so research data assets are accurately represented and discoverable.
• Support datasets throughout their lifecycle, answer content inquiries, and coordinate with external data vendors.
• Monitor and resolve production data issues while coordinating support across global teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve datasets and data management processes.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Foundational knowledge of financial instruments and market data symbology, with interest in developing further expertise.
• Proficiency with SQL and Python for exploratory data analysis, including PySpark, pandas, NumPy, and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Ability to document and clearly explain complex data analysis findings.
• Exceptional attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Athena, Amazon S3, Linux, Bash, Git, Apache Airflow, or similar tools.
• Experience developing data quality checks or reports and understanding of data management principles.
• Prior experience using the Bloomberg Terminal.
