Software Engineer II (AI)

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and scale backend services and Kafka-based streaming pipelines for user behavior data across AWS.
• Design microservices and APIs that expose user segments and behavioral models to classic and agentic product surfaces.
• Transform behavioral signals into reusable segments and models for the wider platform.
• Build, deploy, roll back, and operate production software, including on-call participation.
• Automate operational processes and improve system resilience and ease of operation.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, engineering communities of practice, and shared code ownership.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java, including end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of small-to-medium features and fixes.
• Experience building Kafka-based streaming pipelines and services in AWS production environments.
• Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, scaling, asynchronous programming, event-based flows, task queues, or message queues.
• Active experience using AI coding assistants and agents in daily engineering work.
• Collaborative working style, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to align implementation with broader architecture.
• Proficiency in English and the ability to work in Barcelona, Spain.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL APIs, microservices at scale, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with distributed cloud data processing, ETL, orchestration, or data modeling.
• Experience building agentic AI tools, prompt workflows, recommendation systems, or LLM-based experiences.
• Open-source contributions, build and test automation, SQL performance tuning, or data visualization.
