Principal Software Engineer - Search Infra - Elasticsearch

Salary: €80,400–€127,200 EUR annual base salary; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of hirify.globalsearch core search and indexing capabilities.
• Set technical vision and direction for indexing, retrieval, query execution, and relevance layers.
• Research search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms to improve system efficiency.
• Lead technical projects across distributed systems and collaborate with partner and product teams.
• Mentor expert engineers and guide projects from technical design through completion.
• Act as a domain expert for hirify.globalsearch search infrastructure and shape the long-term technical roadmap.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical projects involving search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Experience building and operating sophisticated, large-scale search platforms and high-performance software systems.
• Experience defining technical vision for core search or retrieval systems across teams and organizations.
• Hands-on experience with hirify.globalsearch, Lucene, or Solr, plus strong knowledge of search and information retrieval.
• Strong core Java skills, including advanced data structures, concurrency constructs, lambdas, and algorithm optimization.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously with distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience working with open source projects.
• Familiarity with source control workflows and continuous integration.
