Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; home office

Salary: $143,000–$286,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Write production-quality code, create automated tests, and take implementations through production deployment.
• Lead platform engineering initiatives covering scalable cloud-native infrastructure and reusable tooling.
• Drive the software development lifecycle across multiple teams, including high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
• Architect and integrate AI/ML-enhanced applications and intelligent systems supporting millions of users.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with Product, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation, and other stakeholders to define requirements and success metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field and 5 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong coding skills and experience delivering production-quality software.
• Extensive platform engineering experience with scalable cloud-native architectures and reusable infrastructure.
• Experience with software development lifecycle management, CI/CD, testing, observability, and incident response.
• Background in AI/ML integration and intelligent software systems using Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with technical mentorship, architectural decisions, requirements analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
