Senior Engineer, Applications Engineering (APC) (AI)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; onsite at the Fremont Office

Salary: $110,900–$147,800 per year

What you will do

• Implement and sustain Advanced Process Control systems, including run-to-run control and fault detection and classification, for wafer manufacturing.
• Lead APC and automation projects through production release and quantify improvements in yield, process capability, cycle time, and equipment productivity.
• Develop, optimize, and deploy real-time FDC models for fault detection, scrap prevention, tool matching, predictive maintenance, and condition-based maintenance.
• Develop and tune feedback and feed-forward R2R control models, automation recipes, specification databases, and controller configurations.
• Integrate and test R2R, FDC, and automation host systems in collaboration with process, equipment, IT, and external engineering teams.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot failures, support recovery, and contribute to the roadmap for future APC and automation capabilities.

Requirements

• BS or MS in engineering, applied physics, operations research, data science, or statistics.
• Experience with semiconductor R2R control and FDC systems, semiconductor processing technologies, and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong analytical and programming skills, including statistical analysis, multivariate analysis, JMP, and Python.
• Knowledge of Linux administration and shell-based workflows, Windows, SQL Server and SQL queries, networking, SECS/GEM communications, and data acquisition systems.
• Experience applying AI or large language models to data analysis, troubleshooting, automation scripting, documentation, or APC/FDC model development.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and project management experience.
