What you will do

• Provide direct patient care, including recording vital signs, pain screens, weights, heights, and patient conditions in the EMR.
• Collect, label, and process urine, stool, sputum, blood, and other specimens while instructing patients and families on collection procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs as applicable and assist nursing and medical staff with invasive and disease center-specific procedures.
• Transport patients, specimens, medical records, blood components, equipment, and supplies according to institute policies.
• Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, forms, and patient care environments, including cleaning and stock management.
• Communicate patient concerns, wait times, status changes, and abnormal findings to patients, families, providers, and clinical colleagues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with an externship, or at least one year of experience in a Medical Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, or related clinical role.
• Nursing students in an accredited bachelor’s program with at least two completed clinical rotations may also be considered.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, technical, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Must work onsite in Boston and have direct contact with patients of all ages.
• BLS certification is required within 60 days of hire.

Nice to have

• Phlebotomy certification, depending on the assigned location.
• Experience with complex patient needs, clinical research data entry, and electronic medical records.
