DevOps Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; onsite project supporting a government customer.

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain highly available applications, DevOps platforms, and private-cloud infrastructure across multiple networks.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, Kubernetes and HashiCorp Nomad clusters.
• Develop automation code, custom CLI tools, APIs, dashboards, and cybersecurity workflow tooling.
• Integrate security testing, static analysis, monitoring, logging, and compliance processes into development workflows.
• Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, OS patching, STIG remediation, and configuration management.
• Collaborate with software developers, infrastructure technicians, cybersecurity professionals, and mission partners.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness and ability to pass a CI polygraph.
• 5+ years of DevOps engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field; alternatively, a master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Go, Java, C#, Bash, or similar languages.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud environments, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab or comparable CI/CD tools.
• Experience with cybersecurity tools and practices, including Trivy, Grype, GitLab SAST, Fortify, SonarQube, PKI, and system remediation.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows administration, networking, load balancing, monitoring tools, web services, SQL databases, Git, and Agile development.

Nice to have

• Security+, RHCSA, LPIC, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Docker Certified Associate certification.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, IaaS/PaaS, web services, Docker STIGs, and Continuous Monitoring programs.
