Principal Automation Software Test Engineer (SDET)

Location: Lafayette, Colorado, United States of America; office role with 10–20% travel

Salary: $122,400–$183,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to automated software testing for complex systems used in surgical procedures.
• Develop, maintain, document, and validate software testing components, applications, and automation frameworks.
• Create project-specific test strategies and coordinate test team activities, including delegation and review of work products.
• Participate in requirements, software design, usability, risk assessment, test design, execution, defect tracking, and analysis.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, software, and test engineers to achieve full system test coverage.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring while improving software testing processes and communicating findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another engineering discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, and/or test leadership.
• At least 5 years of experience in medical devices or another regulated industry.
• Experience with automated GUI, backend integration, reliability, or performance testing and test automation framework development.
• Knowledge of scripting or programming languages, Linux, modern iterative development practices, and test-driven development.
• U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above. A qualifying degree is required for non-U.S. bachelor’s degrees.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cypress, Jest, Supertest, React testing, RabbitMQ, and REST-based architectures.
• Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations and IEC 62304 compliance.
• Project management, requirements management, estimation, mentoring, and leadership experience.
