Systems Test Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Hybrid in Atlanta, with remote options in Colorado, Florida, New York City, and Texas; Seattle is also listed. Proximity to Atlanta and willingness to travel up to 25% are required. Relocation to Atlanta is supported.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annually in San Francisco, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead verification and validation of dependable, safety-critical autonomous ground support systems.
• Develop and maintain test plans and protocols for autonomous vehicle systems and subsystems across the operational design domain, including edge cases.
• Execute manual and automated testing in simulation, closed-course environments, and live airport operations.
• Operate and monitor autonomous vehicles in different driving modes while supporting safe testing and data collection.
• Analyze diagnostics, LiDAR, radar, camera, GPS, and incident data to identify performance issues and validate fixes.
• Build test automation, reporting, and regression-tracking tools; participate in triage, root cause analysis, and release-readiness activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mechatronics, aerospace, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle testing, embedded systems, and/or robotics.
• Experience with automotive or autonomous-vehicle test procedures in real-world and simulation environments.
• Familiarity with structured testing processes such as the V-model, HIL/SIL testing, test automation, and data analysis.
• Strong debugging, organizational, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Proximity to Atlanta and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience developing, testing, or deploying autonomous vehicles, robotics, autonomous systems, or ADAS.
• Experience with DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or Enterprise Architect.
• Knowledge of safety standards including ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, IEC 61508, ANSI B56.5, ISO 3691, and ANSI 15.08.
• Experience with airport airside driving environments, data science, or statistical analysis.
