Patient Access Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle)

Location: Onsite at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio; applicants must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and pre-registration activities for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other required forms; obtain signatures and distribute patient education materials.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and document potential Medicare non-payment issues.
• Conduct account audits, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate patient and colleague service.

Requirements

• Must be able to work onsite at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Ability to walk from room to room and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the shift.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient and client experiences.
