PCB Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, United States; U.S. person status required under ITAR

Salary: $130,000–$200,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Perform PCB layouts from schematics across digital, analog, RF, and power conversion designs.
• Determine layer stackups, component packages, placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing for harsh-environment applications.
• Review and update schematics with electrical engineers and coordinate component placement with mechanical engineers.
• Create, maintain, standardize, and version-control PCB libraries containing symbols, footprints, 3D models, and metadata.
• Interface with manufacturing, vendors, and PCB suppliers to improve DFM, DFT, design rules, and production release documentation.
• Evaluate PCB design tools and mentor teammates on library practices, IPC standards, and manufacturability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
• 2+ years of electronics hardware design experience and 2+ years using electrical test equipment.
• Experience managing or contributing to component libraries, including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and metadata.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software such as KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or Xpedition; strong Altium proficiency is beneficial.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residence, or protected-person status.
• Ability to work extended hours or weekends when required for mission-critical deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with LTspice, SIMetrix, SiWave, HFSS, ADS, CST, or similar simulation and signal/power integrity tools.
• Knowledge of analog, digital, mixed-signal, high-density, and multilayer PCB design.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS-422 interfaces.
• Knowledge of low-noise layout, EMI/EMC minimization, DFM, DFA, DFT, IPC Class 3, and JEDEC standards.
• Experience in aerospace, missile systems, spaceflight, defense, or other high-reliability environments.
