Spacecraft RF Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Los Angeles, California, United States. An active or obtainable United States Department of Defense Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary: $60,000–$180,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead RF system architecture design, link budget analysis, and spacecraft communications subsystem integration.
• Design and route custom PCBs interfacing with spacecraft subsystems.
• Perform spacecraft-wide electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility analysis and testing.
• Lead magnetic cleanliness programs, including dipole modeling, stray field budgeting, and magnetic surveys of flight hardware.
• Ensure FCC and NTIA regulatory compliance and document design processes.
• Provide technical guidance on grounding and test configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field.
• 5+ years of hands-on aerospace hardware experience.
• Expertise in link budgets and spacecraft communications subsystems.
• Proficiency with PCB design software such as Altium or KiCad.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, manual soldering and rework, and RF test equipment.
• Experience evaluating, testing, and integrating RF hardware in clean-room environments while following ESD protocols; must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance.

• Experience with spacecraft magnetic cleanliness programs, magnetic modeling, or stray field characterization.
