PCB Designer (Avionics)

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design multilayer analog, digital, power, RF, and mixed-signal PCB layouts from schematic capture through fabrication and assembly release.
• Optimize component placement, routing, layer stack-ups, signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and EMI/EMC performance.
• Translate schematics into accurate, IPC-compliant layouts and validate footprints, 3D models, pin assignments, and layout constraints.
• Generate fabrication and assembly documentation, including Gerbers, ODB++, drill files, drawings, BOMs, and netlists.
• Manage DRC, LVS, DFM reviews, PCB libraries, footprints, design standards, revision control, and documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, mechanical, test, manufacturing, fabrication, and PCBA partners to ensure manufacturability, yield, and quality.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional PCB layout and design experience.
• Expert proficiency with Altium Designer and strong knowledge of high-density, high-speed digital routing and controlled-impedance multilayer stack-ups.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power distribution, grounding, EMI/EMC, IPC standards, PCB fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing constraints.
• Experience releasing designs to fabrication and assembly, including DFM/DFA optimization.
• Ability to interpret schematics, datasheets, and mechanical drawings and work effectively across engineering disciplines.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• At least 4 years of hardware design experience in aerospace, defense, space, or other high-reliability environments.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, high-speed interfaces, RF/mixed-signal circuits, power management, RF/microwave layouts, or rigid-flex PCBs.
• At least 2 years of experience with Altium 365, PLM or data-management systems, version control, or startup and agile development environments.
