Associate Director, Applied AI (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid work with in-office collaboration three days per week; candidates must live within commuting distance of an approved hirify.global hub in New York City, NY; Louisville, KY; or Dallas, TX.

Salary: $206,600–$284,300 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor teams building production-ready AI solutions for healthcare delivery, member experiences, and business operations.
• Define and execute the roadmap for applied AI initiatives aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Evaluate and adopt machine learning, generative AI, large language models, multimodal models, and intelligent agent technologies.
• Oversee scalable APIs, frameworks, data pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation solutions, and agent orchestration capabilities.
• Partner with product, data science, engineering, architecture, security, and business teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Establish standards for AI evaluation, observability, performance, security, privacy, maintainability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Must be located within commuting distance of an approved U.S. hub and work in the office three days per week.
• At least 10 years of experience in AI/ML product development, engineering, data science, or related technology work, including leadership responsibility.
• Experience leading enterprise AI/ML products or platforms and delivering generative AI or intelligent agent solutions in production.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, model deployment, evaluation, and MLOps practices.
• Hands-on proficiency with Python and modern machine learning frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, multi-agent systems, or multimodal AI.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
• Experience building scalable APIs with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, enterprise data pipelines, or an advanced technical degree.
