Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Montgomery, Alabama; candidates must reside within the listed service-territory ZIP codes. This is a remote-field position with work from home, a mobile office or vehicle, and required in-person appointments. The role may require travel outside the assigned territory, flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports.
• Evaluate policy terms and local regulations to determine claim validity and compliance.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits while providing professional customer service.
• Travel within and occasionally outside the assigned territory to support claim operations.

Requirements

• Strong investigation, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret policies, guidelines, and technical information and apply them accurately.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, traverse roofs, lift and carry equipment, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; rope and harness safety training may be required.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Customer service experience and knowledge of property insurance and claim handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction, building materials, water mitigation, and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
