Associate General Counsel, Europe & UK (Bitcoin)

Location: Europe and the UK; fully remote for UK-based positions. Non-UK-based positions are location dependent.

Salary for UK-based positions: £168,000–£175,000 per year, plus equity.

hirify.global builds Bitcoin-native financial services for individuals and businesses, including bitcoin trading, bill payments, and lending.

What you will do

• Own the legal function and serve as the primary legal lead for hirify.global’s European and UK business.
• Develop regulatory strategy and manage licensing, including MiCA authorisation, EU27 passporting, UK MLR registration, PSD2, e-money, Travel Rule, and UK financial promotions requirements.
• Advise product teams throughout the lifecycle of financial products, including bitcoin-backed lending products.
• Lead negotiations for banking, payment, custody, trading, lending, vendor, and marketing agreements.
• Manage outside counsel, legal budgets, regulatory matters, and engagement with European and UK regulators, including the MFSA and FCA.
• Support AML/CFT, FATF Travel Rule implementation, GDPR compliance, and international expansion into new regulated markets.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer admitted in at least one EU/EEA member state or the UK, with capability across both EU and UK law.
• 10+ years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house or financial services experience.
• Experience owning regulatory and licensing matters and advising a business directly.
• Deep experience drafting and negotiating material commercial agreements.
• Strong judgment, project management, organizational discipline, and the ability to provide practical guidance under time pressure.
• Excellent written and spoken English required; additional European languages are a plus.

Nice to have

• Cryptoasset, digital-assets, consumer credit, lending regulation, or UK Financial Promotions experience.
• Deep EU data protection knowledge, including GDPR, or familiarity with the EU AI Act for financial products and services.
• Experience managing outside counsel and regional legal budgets.
• Background at a top-tier law firm, EU/UK financial services institution, technology company, or fintech company.
