Field Operator - Vehicle Testing (Maritime Robotics)

Location: San Diego, California, in-office. The position requires working from the San Diego office, headquarters, and local boat ramps. Applicants must be U.S. persons and independently authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $80,000–$105,000 per year, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Launch and recover unmanned vessels and conduct maritime test missions.
• Drive small boats in sheltered waters and occasionally in the open ocean.
• Develop and execute missions using proprietary control software.
• Troubleshoot vessel hardware and software independently and with remote or onsite engineers.
• Complete test checklists, document unexpected vessel behavior, and write test reports.
• Maintain water operations equipment and load, unload, and drive vans, trucks, and trailers.

Requirements

• Experience with saltwater boat operations and confidence applying COLREGS and basic maritime safety procedures.
• Experience operating gas or diesel engines and driving drones or other remote-controlled vehicles.
• Comfort working outdoors year-round in San Diego, adapting to shifting priorities, and working occasional non-standard hours.
• Valid driver’s license and California boater card or equivalent.
• Ability to move heavy objects, including trailers and vessels, and use hand tools.
• U.S. person status and independent authorization to work in the United States are required; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Electronics or software troubleshooting experience.
• USCG Captain’s License or similar certification.
• Experience working with military or Coast Guard personnel.
• Forklift certification.
