Principal Systems Engineer (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; hybrid environment with occasional travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance are required.

Estimated starting salary: $165,010.21–$226,889.04 per year, plus annual performance-based incentive pay.

What you will do

• Lead requirements engineering, systems integration, verification and validation, and model-based systems engineering.
• Guide system and decision analysis, technical planning, and technical risk management.
• Manage critical project components and influence architecture, design, and project direction.
• Oversee technical monitoring and lifecycle management across complex development programs.
• Lead collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, mentor senior engineers, and drive innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
• 14+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, including extensive leadership experience.
• Expert proficiency with systems modeling and simulation tools and advanced knowledge of requirements management, systems design, integration, technical risk, and V&V.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams and applying multiple engineering principles and practices.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI, machine learning, cloud computing, real-time operating systems, or embedded systems.
• Experience with DOORS, Cameo, MATLAB, INCOSE/CSEP, Agile methodologies, or Scrum Master certification.
• Background in aerospace and defense, UAS or missile systems, sensor design, hardware-in-the-loop, or embedded system integration and testing.
• Experience with range safety, missile command and launch interfaces, high-profile test events, supplier leadership, or technical team building.
