Counselor (Behavioral Health)

Location: Remote; in-person counseling may be required when assigned, with an active, current and unrestricted professional license in the state of employment potentially required.

Salary: $66,500–$92,000 annually, commensurate with experience and location.

What you will do

• Conduct telephonic, virtual, and assigned in-person assessments, triage, coaching, crisis support, and brief solution-focused counseling.
• Manage cases from intake through completion, including follow-up, documentation, and clinical determinations.
• Connect members with behavioral health, substance use, financial, legal, personal assistance, and work-life resources.
• Coordinate referrals, consult with service providers, complete session authorizations, and collaborate with after-hours providers.
• Consult with Human Resources professionals and client supervisors regarding employee-related concerns.
• Maintain knowledge of industry practices, ethical standards, risk policies, and licensure requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or another behavioral health-related field.
• At least five years of experience as an EAP counselor or in an equivalent behavioral health clinical role.
• Strong assessment, triage, crisis-support, research, referral, case management, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of behavioral health conditions, levels of care, and discharge-planning practices.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and appropriate handling of Protected Health Information.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.

Nice to have

• Licensed mental health clinician, Certified Employee Assistance Professional, certified Human Resources professional, or another recognized psychology, social work, or counseling credential.
• Active, current, and unrestricted professional licensure in the state of employment, where required for in-person counseling.
