Patient Access Specialist - Full Time

Location: Onsite at Children's Minnesota - St. Paul Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting, pre-registration, and patient access functions for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select appropriate plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other required forms; obtain signatures and distribute patient education materials.
• Screen medical necessity using Advanced Beneficiary Notice software and document required forms.
• Conduct account audits, maintain accurate records, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Children's Minnesota - St. Paul Hospital.
• Availability for day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve patient and client experiences.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
