TL;DR
Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle): Managing patient registration, insurance verification, medical necessity checks, financial collections, and patient communications onsite at a hospital with an accent on data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and patient experience. Focus on auditing patient accounts, selecting insurance plan data, supporting clean claims, and processing required consent and Medicare forms.

Location: On-site at RSFH - Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States. Full-time schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Register patients accurately, assign medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
  • Perform insurance eligibility, medical necessity, and compliance checks, including Advanced Beneficiary Notice screening for Medicare patients.
  • Explain consent, observation, Medicare, Tricare, and patient education forms; obtain required signatures and document completed forms.
  • Conduct pre-registration calls, explain financial liabilities and payment options, and collect point-of-service and past-due balances.
  • Audit patient accounts, correct errors, complete quality reports, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service to patients, colleagues, and clinical partners.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Inquisitive mindset and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
  • Ability to work on-site at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States; applications from outside the United States will not be considered.
  • CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
