Patient Access Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Children's Minnesota - St. Paul Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. The position is limited to individuals who reside and are authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$22.80 per hour, based on experience, with shift differentials for select shifts.

What you will do

• Perform admitting, pre-registration, and patient access functions for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain required signatures and distribute patient education materials.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software and document applicable notices and forms.
• Conduct account audits, correct records, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve patient and client experiences.
• Ability to work onsite in St. Paul, Minnesota, on day, evening, or overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
