Database Engineer (AWS)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases in AWS for an internal data-request application.
• Model request submission, revision, review, approval, fulfillment, dissemination, workflow states, justifications, and reviewer decisions.
• Implement role- and attribute-based access controls, row- and column-level security, encryption, least-privilege access, retention workflows, and immutable audit trails.
• Analyze legacy data, perform source analysis and mapping, and execute migration and transformation into the target environment.
• Write and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes; implement backup, recovery, replication, monitoring, and RPO/RTO processes.
• Integrate schema change control, versioned migration scripts, data preparation for AI-assisted review, reporting, and CI/CD workflows.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 3+ years; equivalent experience may substitute for a degree.
• 5+ years designing, building, and administering relational databases, with expert SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and stored procedure skills.
• Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling; relational database architecture; and data migration from legacy systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and S3, preferably in classified environments.
• Experience with database security, backup and recovery, replication, and scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree, AWS certification, or experience supporting classified systems.
• Experience with NoSQL design, regulated data controls, retention and purge workflows, audit logging, RBAC/ABAC, and case-management data models.
• Experience with Flyway or Liquibase, CI/CD, SecDevOps, Terraform or CloudFormation, Docker, Kubernetes, ETL/ELT, and event-driven AWS services.
• Experience preparing data for machine learning or AI-assisted applications and working with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
