Backend Engineer (Financial Data)

Location: New York City, United States; on-site

Base salary: $250,000–$315,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own data infrastructure that ingests, transforms, and serves structured and unstructured financial datasets.
• Design scalable, cost-effective streaming and batch pipelines processing millions of documents and data points daily.
• Integrate market data vendors, proprietary sources, and third-party financial datasets into reliable, queryable platforms.
• Partner with the Core AI team to structure and serve data for model and retrieval-system performance.
• Build secure, compliant integrations for enterprise customer data.
• Raise engineering standards through technical ownership, high-quality code, and collaborative leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building complex, data-intensive backend systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud stack.
• Deep Python expertise and proficiency in a strongly typed language such as Rust, C++, or Java.
• Experience designing distributed systems with asynchronous patterns, streaming, queuing, caching, observability, relational databases, SQL, NoSQL, Redis, and columnar stores.
• Experience operating large-scale financial data pipelines and collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams.
