Product Owner (AI-Driven Reservoir Simulation & Optimization)

Location: Wietmarschen-Lohne, Germany; home office is possible.

What you will do

• Own and continuously refine the product vision, roadmap, backlog, and priorities for an AI-driven reservoir simulator.
• Translate reservoir engineering and production optimization requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics.
• Coordinate reservoir engineers, data scientists, software developers, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders.
• Prioritize data ingestion, preprocessing, model training, history matching, production forecasting, and reservoir optimization features.
• Facilitate Scrum activities and track progress against OKRs and epics.
• Define KPIs for model accuracy, computational performance, incremental production, simulation runtime, and forecast accuracy.

Requirements

• Degree in petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a similar role in a software or data-driven product environment within the oil and gas industry.
• Solid knowledge of agile methodologies, Scrum or Kanban, backlog management, and Azure DevOps.
• Deep understanding of reservoir engineering, including multiphase flow, production data, and history matching.
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and strong stakeholder communication skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English required; German language skills are advantageous.

Nice to have

• Hands-on machine learning experience.
• Experience with data aggregation and modeling across real-time sensor data and monthly or quarterly reservoir data.
• German language skills.
