Patient Access Specialist - Emergency Department Huntley Hospital Part-time

Location: 10400 Haligus Rd, Huntley, Illinois, United States; on-site emergency department role

Salary: USD 18.40–27.60 per hour

What you will do

• Register patients by accurately collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and encounter information.
• Schedule and direct patients through hospital systems while coordinating with departments and physician offices.
• Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, authorizations, medical necessity, benefits, and out-of-pocket estimates.
• Use Epic and other online systems to retrieve orders, document interactions, and send scheduling messages.
• Resolve patient concerns, service issues, and registration or scheduling problems while protecting confidentiality.
• Participate in quality assurance, process improvement, cross-training, and departmental coverage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Computer data-entry proficiency, basic computer skills, and typing speed of 40 words per minute.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, time-management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work the specified part-time evening schedule, including 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. shifts, and adapt to changing business needs.

Nice to have

• Additional education or language skills.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
• Healthcare experience, especially patient scheduling or registration.
