Patient Access Specialist (Part-Time, Overnight Shift)

Location: Onsite in Huntley, Illinois, United States; part-time overnight shift.

Salary: USD 18.40–27.60 per hour

What you will do

• Register patients, collect and verify demographic information, and maintain accurate patient records.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate physician and insurance referrals, and direct patients through hospital systems.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, medical necessity, and out-of-pocket estimates.
• Respond to patient questions, resolve service issues, and escalate extraordinary concerns when needed.
• Document scheduling and handoff information in Epic and other online systems.
• Support quality assurance, process improvement, cross-training, and department coverage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute and use computer data-entry applications.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and provide patient-focused customer service.

Nice to have

• Additional education or language skills.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare insurance experience.
• Healthcare experience involving patient scheduling or registration.
