Location: Onsite at HSHS - St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois; candidates must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Perform patient admission, registration, and pre-registration activities for hospital services.
  • Assign medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, verify eligibility, and select accurate insurance plan codes.
  • Process physician orders, medical necessity checks, consent forms, Medicare and Tricare notices, observation forms, and other required patient documentation.
  • Collect point-of-service payments, past-due balances, and patient financial liability information, including payment plan options.
  • Conduct account audits, correct documentation issues, and provide statistical reporting to Patient Access leadership.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service while meeting compliance and point-of-service goals.

Requirements

  • Must work onsite at HSHS - St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • CRCR certification required within nine months of hire; certification is company-paid.
  • Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvement.
