Patient Access Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Children's Minnesota Minneapolis Hospital in Minneapolis, MN; candidates must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States. Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $17.00–$22.80 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform patient admitting, pre-registration, demographic and insurance data collection, and physician order processing.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, complete medical necessity and compliance checks, and support clean claim processing.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and collect point-of-service payments and past-due balances.
• Explain and distribute consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient education forms and obtain required signatures.
• Conduct account audits, complete quality reporting, correct account issues, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service while meeting organizational policies and point-of-service goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvement.
• Must be able to work onsite in Minneapolis, MN, and reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
• CRCR certification required within nine months of hire; certification is company paid.
