Plant Operator - Renewable Power (C&C)

Location: Marshall, Michigan, United States. Onsite plant operations are required, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with a rotating on-call schedule every other week.

Salary: $35.00–$38.00 per hour, plus a bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, and maintain a landfill-gas-to-energy facility with one gas turbine, two Waukesha engines, gas compressors, pumps, blowers, and auxiliary systems.
• Perform inspections, equipment starts and stops, performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and major overhaul support.
• Track production data, run hours, maintenance activities, service schedules, equipment outages, inventory, and material requirements.
• Monitor landfill gas quality, including BTU content, pressure, moisture, and contaminants, and coordinate with landfill personnel on supply or quality issues.
• Respond to alarms and off-hours call-outs, investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, and escalate complex issues.
• Maintain plant cleanliness, safety systems, environmental standards, regulatory compliance, and safe practices for visitors, contractors, and personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least three years of heavy equipment operations experience; gas turbines, reciprocating engines, or gas compressors are preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, general troubleshooting ability, and working knowledge of pressure, vacuum, and flow systems.
• Experience with pumps, blowers, or air compressors; basic electrical knowledge is preferred.
• Effective reading, writing, recordkeeping, and logging skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to perform moderate lifting, climb, kneel, crouch, walk on irregular surfaces, operate an ATV, and use diagnostic and power tools.
