Power Plant Stationary Engineer Full Time Nights (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at the hospital in Palos Heights, Illinois, United States. Full-time night shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., scheduled Friday through Tuesday, with weekend and holiday coverage required.

Salary: $35.55–$44.44 per hour.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, inspect, and install hospital utility equipment and components.
• Operate and maintain boilers, feedwater treatment systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, and medical gas systems.
• Maintain domestic water systems, emergency diesel generators, fire pumps, and related safety infrastructure.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment rounds, meter readings, operating-log updates, and service-request documentation.
• Test water and steam chemistry, interpret results, and adjust chemical treatment systems.
• Coordinate with contractors and support maintenance and electrical staff on hospital equipment and projects.

Requirements

• Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License required.
• Thorough knowledge of steam generation and refrigeration principles.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license; additional certification or licensure may be required.
• 1–2 years of related experience required; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and shift coverage.

Nice to have

• Technical training in a job-related field.
• Five years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
