Security Officer I - Security, Full-time, Nights

Location: McHenry, Illinois, United States; onsite, night shift

What you will do

• Investigate and respond to hospital incidents, disturbances, hazardous conditions, theft, criminal activity, and other security issues.
• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle to protect patients, visitors, employees, and property.
• Monitor access control systems, fire and duress alarms, security video, restricted areas, and staff parking compliance.
• Respond to emergency codes, support helicopter transports, control traffic, and maintain access for emergency vehicles, patients, and visitors.
• Conduct contraband searches, provide staff escorts, assist with patient restraints when directed by clinical staff, and transport deceased bodies to the morgue according to policy.
• Prepare incident reports, notify police and fire officials when appropriate, and escalate issues requiring management follow-up.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Complete the IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire and maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association within 9 months of hire.
• Complete hirify.global Defensive Tactics in Healthcare training within 6 months of hire.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, writing, and report-completion skills; a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare security, police work, or military service.
• Valid FOID card.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
