Auxiliary Operator

Location: Dickerson, Maryland, USA; on-site rotating shift work

Salary: $34.62–$46.06 per hour

What you will do

• Operate and inspect boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and other power plant equipment.
• Monitor pumps, motors, fans, dampers, compressors, valves, conveyors, turbine generators, and electrical devices.
• Read meters and gauges to identify operating trends and potential equipment disruptions.
• Perform material sampling, chemistry testing, and water treatment as required.
• Operate cranes, skid steers, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy industrial mobile equipment.
• Maintain correct refuse-fuel levels and appropriate refuse mixtures in designated operating areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience operating boilers or heavy industrial equipment, including some maintenance.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, with overtime during outages as needed.
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, work at heights and in confined spaces, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
