Generator Protection Engineer (Power Plants)

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States. The role requires international travel for short durations, up to approximately 10%.

What you will do

• Develop electrical concepts and system designs for reference power plants and project-specific implementations.
• Design and specify generator and transformer protection systems, current transformers, neutral grounding equipment, and generator terminal enclosures.
• Create, review, release, and maintain technical design tools and engineering documentation.
• Support bid management with technical solutions, cost calculations, and proposal activities.
• Support supply chain activities, including supplier development and product qualification.
• Contribute to cost-value analysis and continuous improvement of global engineering processes, tools, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or higher.
• At least 5 years of experience with electrical components used in power plants or high-voltage transmission systems.
• Experience designing and specifying current and voltage transformers, relay protection, and control systems, including settings calculations and parametrization for SEL, Siemens, or Beckwith equipment.
• Knowledge of generator terminal equipment and applicable IEC, IEEE, VDE, EN, and local standards.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and effective communication skills.
• Fluent English and legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with neutral grounding equipment and neutral tie or line-side enclosures.
• Experience interpreting technical contract requirements, negotiating with customers, or commissioning electrical components.
